Jeff Wichern, JJ Trained Founder/Head Coach
High School: Minneapolis Roosevelt. College: Augsburg, Minneapolis, MN. Jeff begins his fourth year as EP Youth Head Coach. As a high school wrestler, he had 133 career wins, was a 3-time State Qualifier and a 5-time Minneapolis City Conference Champion. He also made the Minnesota Cadet National Team and wrestled on 3 Section Finals teams. He was the "career wins leader" in Minneapolis public schools. As a coach, Wichern served as an assistant coach to Gopher great Billy Pierce at Edison High School. During this period, Wichern coached eight high school wrestlers to win state titles, fourteen wrestlers became state place winners and won five national titles and ten wrestlers became college All-Americans. Coach Wichern also served as a USA Team Coach for the Dapper River Classic in Pennsylvania. He has several years of experience in the Minneapolis Wrestling Club and Richfield/Edina Wrestling Club. In 2015 while coaching Eden Prairie, the team was ranked #10 in the country at Folkstyle MNUSA Nationals. Jeff's late father, Rodney Wichern, created the Minneapolis Wrestling Club which produced 7 state champions and 14 place winners in 10 years. During that time, Jeff also served as a personal coach to 4-time Minnesota HS State Champion Marcus Levesseur and State Champion Jafari Vanier.
Marcus Levesseur, JJ Trained Head Coach
Born and raised in Minneapolis, LeVesseur began wrestling at the age of five and went on to become a four-time State Champion at Roosevelt High School, and spent his senior year at Bloomington Kennedy High School. LeVesseur, who was also a talented football player as a quarterback and competed in track and field, had a 141-match win streak heading into college, and holds the high school wrestling state record for most wins. LeVesseur, who also excelled academically, was offered a scholarship to compete at the University of Minnesota, but transferred to NCAA Division III Augsburg College before beginning his freshman season for Minnesota. As a college wrestler, LeVesseur was undefeated, with a record of 155–0. He won four NCAA Division III Championships individually, and was a member of two teams that won National Championships. Since his last loss in high school competition LeVesseur compiled an amateur wrestling record of 296–0 through his senior year at Augsburg. He is only the second college wrestler ever to finish his career unbeaten and untied, with a 155–0 career record. LeVesseur ended his high school wrestling career 141-match unbeaten streak, which when combined with his unbeaten college career was 296–0. LeVesseur also continued with football at Augsburg, breaking multiple touchdown and rushing records for the conference and school as a quarterback. LeVesseur made his MMA debut in 2003 and continued on to fight in the UFC until 2012.
Jesse Martin, JJ Trained Head Assistant Coach
High School: Minneapolis Roosevelt. College: Augsburg, Minneapolis, MN. Jesse begins his fourth year coaching in the EP Youth Wrestling program. As a wrestler, Jesse was a two-time All-Conference wrestler and two-time State Qualifier. He also made both the Minnesota Cadet and Juniors National teams. As a youth wrestler, Jesse won several state and national titles. His brother Jerry Martin was a Minnesota HS State Champion. His father Terry Martin was a legendary football coach in Minneapolis. Jesse is a huge asset to our program providing the EP Youth and JJ Trained program with one of the finest coaching staff's in the country. Jesse owns his own business and is a contributor to the Eden Prairie Takedown Association and JJ Trained Wrestling School. Jesse lives in Minneapolis with wife Liz and son Chance.
Terrance Young, JJ Trained Assistant Coach
High School: Minneapolis Edison. College: Northern Iowa. 2x MN State Champion, 3x MN State Place Winner, 4x All Conference and Folkstyle National Champion. Terrance was also a 2x Minnesota State Christmas Tournament Champion and also named Outstanding Wrestler. He saw success in freestyle as a 2x Freestyle Champion, MN Cadet and Junior National Team member. Terrance was ranked #1 in the country as a High School Senior. In college, he was JUCO National Champion, 2x All American at Iowa Central, and a varsity wrestler at Northern Iowa. At Iowa Central, Terrance was part of 2 National Champion teams. Terrance was named MVP of high school football team. Terrance was inducted into the Edison High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.
TJ Friederichs, JJ Trained Technician
High School: Osseo. College: St Cloud State, St Cloud, MN. TJ was a 3-time state place winner and state finalist that also wrestled on 4 state tournament teams. He ended his high school career with 161 wins and went on to wrestle at Iowa Central where he was coached by his uncle and hall of fame coach Denny Friederichs that won national team titles. TJ was a multiple time Freestyle and Greco National champion and place winner. He was one of the finest wrestlers in his day with unbelievable technique.
Mustafa Shabazz, JJ Trained Assistant Youth Coach
Sean Marsh, JJ Trained Assistant Coach
High School: Minneapolis Edison. Sean had 100 career wins in his high school career and was 5 time All Conference. He wrestled for JJ Founder Jeff Wichern and was a teammate to Terrance Young. Sean coaches youth wrestling for NE Wrestling Club and had 3 state place winners last year. He also coached the team to 2 Minneapolis city titles.
Ryan Sather, Assistant Youth Coach
High School: Anoka, College: Augustana, Sioux Falls, SD. Ryan was a two-sport athlete at Anoka High School. He played on two conference and one state championship teams. He earned All-Conference and All-State honors in football. In addition, Ryan Lettered three years in Wrestling at Anoka, earning All-Conference honors his senior year at heavyweight for the Tornadoes. Coach Sather went on to play Division II Football at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. There he earned All-Conference honors and NCAA All-American honors. In addition, he was named to the All-Conference and All-American All-Academic teams. Coach Sather now enjoys volunteering with the Eden Prairie Takedown Association as well as the Eden Prairie Football Association. Ryan works for Cru, a non-profit Christian ministry where he is the COO for the inner city division with the national office here in Minneapolis and oversees 17 other cities around the country. Ryan and his two boys also run a bible study before practice on Wednesday nights. He and his wife, Ashley, have four children, including two sons who compete on the Eden Prairie wrestling and football youth teams.

Billy Pierce, JJ Trained Technician
High School: Minneapolis Roosevelt. College: University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN. Billy was a 2-time state champion in High School and National Champion for Cadet, Junior and Expoir. In college, he was a 3-time all American and big 10 champion that also traveled overseas to compete. Billy brings 15 years of high school coaching experience to JJ Trained. He was instrumental at Anoka with two 3rd place state finishes and coached Olympian Jake Dietchler. He coached with JJ Trained founder Jeff Wichern at Edison HS during Terrance Young and Marcus Levesseur’s high school career. He has also held positions at Forest Lake and Chisago Lakes. Billy was the #1 high school heavy weight in the nation and continues to make a huge impact in Minnesota wrestling.
