Eden Prairie Takedown Association partners with Eden Prairie's Community Education program and offers our Pre-K thru 6th grade youth program through their site. We have also partnered with JJ Trained Wrestling School to bring best in class wrestling technique and coaching to our room. This program is great for all levels of wrestlers, but will focus on the basic fundamentals of wrestling. All practices will take place at Eden Prairie High School's Wrestling Room.
Our mission is to promote excellence in wrestling and to positively influence the lives of kids in the Eden Prairie School District and surrounding communities. We are dedicated to having our kids develop a true commitment to wrestling by providing them with an enjoyable, team-oriented experience. We emphasize the importance of technique, sportsmanship, physical conditioning, work ethic, goal setting, competitive spirit, and self-discipline.
TINY EAGLES (PREK - 1ST GRADE)
Perfect for kids with lots of energy that like to play physical games in a fun, safe environment. We don't teach much technique at this age, just a few of the basics and rules. Our goal is to create an environment where kids can exercise their emerging athleticism through gymnastics, playful combative games, and wrestling.
EAGLES WRESTLING (2ND - 6TH GRADE)
Youth wrestlers start working on the basic foundations of wrestling at an easy to learn pace. We focus on position, movement, and level change. We put a strong emphasis on athletic development for boys and girls.
MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLING
Middle School wrestling runs Mid-November thru Mid-January and practices are held at EPHS. There is an activity bus that transports wrestlers after school to the high school. EP CMS competes in the classic "Middle School" Lake Conference including Wayzata West, Plymouth, Minnetonka West, Wayzata Central, Robbinsdale, Hopkins West, Hopkins North and Minnetonka East.
HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING
Practices are held daily (except competition days) in the EPHS wrestling room after school beginning mid-November and ending mid-February. Captains practices occur during the two weeks prior to the first day and provide peer organized work-outs to prepare for the start of the wrestling season.
