Youth Wrestling

Welcome to Eden Prairie Takedown Association's Youth Wrestling Program. We provide wrestling instruction for youth (boys and girls) Pre-K to 6th Grade.  Our purpose is to provide a healthy, fun environment while increasing interest and supporting wrestling at all levels.  We emphasize the fundamentals that will help develop each child physically and mentally. While winning and losing are components of wrestling, competition and participation are strongly emphasized.  EPTA promotes a safe, positive and friendly setting where kids who are interested in wrestling can learn about this sport. We focus on sportsmanship, respect, and life skills that will be used both on and off the mat.

We have partnered with Eden Prairie's Community Education program and offer our youth program through their site.  We have also partnered with JJ Trained Wrestling School to bring best in class wrestling technique and coaching to our room.  This program is great for all levels of wrestlers, but will focus on the basic fundamentals of wrestling.  All practices will take place at Eden Prairie High School's Wrestling Room.

Looking for a program to help increase your child's strength, flexibility and agility?   Or a practice that prepares you for success and discipline in other sports?  Wrestling is a great companion to football, martial arts and many more sports. The Eden Prairie Youth Wrestling program is for all youth (boys and girls) in Eden Prairie and its surrounding communities in Pre-K - 6th grade. It is geared for all levels of wrestlers but will focus on the fundamentals and fun of wrestling.

Eden Prairie Takedown Association strives to find a way to make wrestling accessible for all youth entering grades PK through 12.  As good stewards of the funds provided by the JJ Trained Wrestling School or EPTA families, we attempt to find that balance between full accessibility and financial realities.  We continue to reach out to families that need assistance to make this wonderful participation a reality for their children interested in the sport of wrestling, and in the camaraderie and sportsmanship of our program.  It is our hope that no child is turned away for financial need reasons.

We do ask all families involved in EPTA to share a bond with the program, both financially and as a fan of their child.  Doing so allows even more children to be a part of our wrestling family.  Note that families that have not honored their scholarship or attendance agreements, or have not paid their shared balances due from previous years may not be eligible for scholarships in the current year.

The registration cost of our program is still one of the lowest in the entire area, especially considering the number of coaches we have in attendance at practices and tournaments.  And yet, this registration cost is sometimes out of the reach of some families.  If you would like to be considered for financial assistance (aka scholarship) as a part of the registration process, please complete and submit the Scholarship Application

If you would like to assist other families by contributing to our scholarship fund or have questions about the application, please email for further details.
